Now that I am selling my fabric designs on Spoonflower, I decided to enter one of their fabric of the week contests. These contests are so fun and absolutely fabulous because there is a different theme each week and there are always so many fantastically unique fabrics from which to choose. You can vote one time for as many of the entries as you like.
The theme of the contest I entered was “Cut and Sew Hat Pattern”.
The entire pattern including instructions had to fit on 1 yard of fabric. I had just finished a Cloche Hat Pattern for my etsy shop when this contest popped up, so I thought I’d give it a shot. I am a big fan of vintage hats and looked at a lot of photos before working on this design. I really love the 1920’s style.
My hat design came in 11th which I think is pretty darn good since I am relatively new to Spoonflower and this was my first time entering a contest.
Here is the completed hat from the cut and sew design which is now available for purchase at Spoonflower. If you are into a vintage look, this is the hat for you! I wore it out over the weekend to a local Arts and Crafts show, where I was complimented on it and asked several times if I got my hat there! (I guess I should have been handing out business cards or something!)
It has a cute little flower on the back too!
I am working furiously to complete the cloche hat pattern in two smaller sizes so I can list it (along with several other new patterns) in my etsy shop very soon. I’ll keep you posted as soon as I get those listed on etsy! Speaking of that, I better get back to work!
6-15-12 UPDATE:
